Understanding your system
What is a
dry riser?
A dry riser is a fixed pipework system that allows firefighters to deliver water to outlets on different levels of a building.
It is normally empty. During an emergency, the fire and rescue service pumps water into the system through an external inlet. Firefighters connect hoses to landing valves inside the building to access that water closer to where it is needed.
01
Breeching inlet
The connection where
water enters the system.
02
Riser pipework
The route carrying water
through the building.
03
Outlet Valves
The outlets used to connect firefighting hoses.
Correct design, installation and ongoing maintenance all matter. We work with your project information and fire strategy to establish the appropriate scope for your building.
